After earning degrees in communications and law, Senator Whitmer began a career as a corporate litigator, specializing in administrative and regulatory law. She spent six years in the State House and was recently elected as the State Senator serving greater Lansing, including the Michigan State University campus. A recent recipient of the MSU College of Communications Arts and Sciences Distinguished Alumni award, Senator Whitmer discusses how Michigan can turn tribulation into reinvention.
