From MSU Today: Barbara Schneider is an education sociologist who holds the John A. Hannah Distinguished Professor of Education in MSU’s College of Education. She came to MSU in 2005 from the University of Chicago. She studies family relationships and how they influence educational attainment.
Schneider has written books about adolescence, two-career families, achievement strategies, worklife balance and how all of that informs learning. This is social science research that dovetails into education. She has testified before Congress, appeared on CNN and is a star in this area of research. Essentially, she looks at home home and family influence our ability to
learn. She discusses many of these topics in the conversation.
