“There was a saying by the Greek philosopher Diogenes in the gym at my high school that said the foundation of every nation lies in the education of its youth,” says Dr. Bonnie. “I firmly believe that.”
Knutson says that students are always hungry for tomorrow and their sense of optimism for the future “keeps me young.” She does think that today’s students put more pressure on themselves.
Futurist John Naisbitt coined the phrase High tech High touch, says Knutson, “and that means that the more that technology invades our lives the more we need human touch. That personal connection is what the hospitality industry is all about.
“Our challenge is how to enhance this personal touch in an increasingly technological world. That’s where the students’ creativity comes in.”
Knutson says “my parents showed me the floor plan – what the building could really look like – and MSU gave me the tools that transformed my life.”
