The school is dedicated to educating students for competent, responsive and ethical social work practice. The teaching, research and outreach seek to promote positive change and social justice for diverse communities, families and individuals.

Anderson elaborates on the research and outreach emphases of the school, and he describes some of the school’s initiatives like the blended statewide program and mandated reporting.

He also talks about the state of social work in the United States and dispells some of the misconceptions associated with social work.
