Gould says the mission of ISYS is to provide leadership, scholarship and outreach that “transforms” the face of youth sports in ways that maximize the beneficial physical, psychological, and social effects of participation for children and youth while minimizing detrimental effects.
He says a healthy dose of perspective is what most parents and coaches involved in youth sports need most. And he worries most about what he calls the professionalization of youth sports.
