Bob Baldori has to be one of the ultimate rock and roll survivors. A renaissance man who wrote, produced and performed during the height of the 60s, Bob is best known as a founding member of The Woolies, who took their high energy take on Bo Diddley’s Who Do You Love to the number 3 spot on the WKNR Music Guide in January of 1967. Bob talks about coming of age in Dearborn, his eclectic career at Michigan State, his Cooley Law Degree and the Woolies wild ride to the brink of superstardom. Bob Seger, Punch Andrews, the Underdogs, the Mamas and the Papas, Bones Howe, Barry Maguire, Russ gibb, the MC5 and Chuck Berry all figure into the story which Bob weaves for us with his characteristic candor and good humor. Also on the program, MSU Professor Gary Reid who helped engineer some of Bob’s later work, Bill Castanier who chronicles the Woolies story in this week’s City Pulse, Scott Westerman, curator of the Keener13.com website that celebrates 60s Detroit rock radio and Detroit News columnist and rock author Susan Whitall.
